Privacy Policy

Overview

Quietly AI ("we", "us", "our") provides a Chrome extension that overlays AI learning support on platforms such as Instructure® Canvas. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Quietly AI, you agree to this Policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information. Name, email, and Firebase user ID provided during sign-up or login.

Subscription & Billing. Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. We do not store full payment details.

Usage Analytics. Non-sensitive telemetry about feature usage (e.g., feature toggles, counts, error types, timestamps). We avoid storing raw quiz answers unless strictly necessary for processing.

Content Processing. To provide explanations or suggestions, we may process quiz text, answer options, or your prompts. We send only what is needed to our servers and OpenAI.

Device & Technical Data. A generated device identifier, browser/extension version, approximate region (inferred from infrastructure), and standard request metadata.

How We Use Information

• Provide and improve study features (explanations, hints, similar problems)
• Authenticate users and enforce subscription/usage limits
• Maintain reliability, security, and prevent abuse
• Analyze anonymized/aggregated usage to improve accuracy and UX
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

Legal Bases

Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests (security, product improvement), and with your consent (e.g., certain analytics where required by law).

Sharing & Disclosure

Service Providers. We use Firebase/Google Cloud (auth, Firestore), Stripe (billing), and OpenAI (AI processing). These vendors process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.

Legal & Safety. We may share information to comply with law, prevent fraud/abuse, or protect users and our services.

No Sale of Personal Information. We do not sell your personal information.

Data Storage & Retention

Account, subscription, and usage records are stored in Firebase/Firestore. AI prompts and results may be cached for consistency and quality (typically up to 24 hours unless legally required longer). We retain data for as long as necessary to provide the service and meet legal obligations.

Security

We implement safeguards appropriate to the data processed (e.g., access controls, encrypted transport, key management). No system is 100% secure; report issues to the contact below.

Your Choices & Rights

• Access/Update: You can update basic account info via the app or by contacting us
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account data (subject to required retention)
• Analytics: At this time, analytics are required for service reliability and abuse prevention and cannot be disabled. We do not sell your data and we limit analytics to non-sensitive operational events.
  
• Communications: We send essential service messages; you can opt out of non-essential emails

Children

Quietly AI is intended for users 13+ and may require parental or guardian consent for users aged 13–17. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards in place.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced via the Service or email. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
